Brakes - General Info

Power w/out Control is NOTHING!

After walking away from a performance test from an early 90's Porsche 911, what sticks with you are the telepathic steering, impressive acceleration, inspiring handling?and most of all the breath taking braking ability.

Short of a ride on one of the new rail roller coasters like the one at Disneyland's California's Adventure Park that takes you 0-60 in about 2 seconds, I had never experienced acceleration or rather deceleration in a vehicle like that.

Remember, acceleration is the rate of change in velocity?either positive or negative?so you can look at braking as negative acceleration.

Previous to that experience with Brembo Brakes, I was unaware that the most powerful component on a car should be its brakes. Though you feel you can never have enough engine power, that power must be tamed if you want to remain in control of the your vehicle.

Here are the typical stages or steps to improved braking performance.

  1. Brake Lines/Brake Fluid

  2. Pads

  3. Rotors

  4. Calipers

  5. Complete Kits/Systems
